Child Care at General Assembly
Daytime Child Care for infants (6 months) and children through age 10 will be offered during General Assembly. Children will remain on-site at a nearby hotel (Hampton Inn and Suites) and be cared for by professional child care workers in a setting that provides both activities and quiet time.
The registration fee includes lunch and snacks. Parents must furnish baby supplies baby food, or other special food. Child Care hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Sunday. Space is limited.
Children's Programs are subsidized by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) at more than $300 per child. Please pay as you are able; the minimum fee per child is $35/day. Children may not participate in GA Children's Programs without a GA registered parent or guardian (though you may register the child first and parent later). Space is limited. Registrations received after April 30 will be subject to a $35 late fee. No registrations will be accepted after May 31. Register now.
Parents of 9 and 10-year olds: We often hear concerns from parents of children at the older end of the child care age range that, because child care goes from 6 months to 10 years, their kids are going to be treated as toddlers and will be bored. The staff to child ratios, however, result in specialized supervision of 6 to 11 month-olds, 1 and 2-year olds, 3 to 5-year olds, and 6 to 10-year olds. We have worked with our childcare provider for over ten years and they do a very good job of keeping the staff-to-child ratio high and the activities age-appropriate. They staff and plan based on the ages of children who enroll in the program, selecting specific activities once they know how many kids of which ages are attending.
