American Airlines has offered a 5% discount on flights to Ft Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach from June 20 to July 4, 2008. The contract agreement number is A8768AR.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is a quick ten minutes
from the convention center, major hotels, beaches and the Port Everglades.
FLL airport is serviced by over thirty-one U.S. and international airlines providing
nonstop service to over 88 destinations in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean and
Central and South America. There are four separate terminals at Fort
Lauderdale’s airport with the recently added Terminal 1 (April 2001) being the
most user-friendly and spacious—it even houses swaying palm trees. Nearby Port
Everglades is the second largest cruise ship port in the world, and locals warn
that security and baggage lines at the airport can be especially long on Fridays
and Saturdays when cruise ship passengers are arriving and departing.
Miami International Airport (MIA) is at the top of many lists: it’s the 12th
busiest U.S. airport in passengers, the third busiest in international
passengers and for many of those passengers it also ranks as one of the least
traveler-friendly airports due to chronically long lines and dated terminal
facilities. Currently, Miami MIA airport consists of a large semi-circle
terminal with eight concourses extending from it like piers. American Airlines,
operating out of Concourses B, C and D, uses the airport as an international
hub. Over fifteen other domestic airlines and thirty-five international airlines also service
the airport offering over one hundred nonstop flights to North, Central and South
America, the Caribbean and Europe. Fort Lauderdale is a 40-minute drive
north from MIA.
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) is a medium-sized
airport in southeastern Florida that was voted third-best U.S. airport by
readers of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine in 2003. PBI airport’s terminal was
opened in 1988 and has separate levels for arriving and departing passengers,
three concourses and a large concession mall that runs the length of the
building. Showcasing its South Florida roots, the terminal features coquina
walls (a limestone and shells material that was commonly used in Florida’s
historical buildings), tile floors and a colorful art collection. Over ten major
airlines and several regional jet services operate out of Palm Beach airport
with Delta handling over 30 percent of all passengers. Palm Beach International
Airport is a generally hassle-free and pleasant beginning to a South Florida
vacation. Fort Lauderdale is a 60-minute drive south from PBI.
