#2035 Finding our Common Wealth: Stewardship as Transformational Ministry
UU University
Stewardship can be a transformative ministry that speaks to the whole person. Congregations that minister to the entirety of people’s financial lives experience an authentic generosity among their members. They assist people in navigating a materialist culture and thereby leave behind cajoling people into giving. We will highlight the courageous work of congregations that strive to be anti-classist in stewardship practices and move away from privileged-based models of fundraising. While current economic trends may promote a scarcity mentality in congregations, it is our intention to pose these challenges as opportunities for deeper ministry within and beyond church walls. Co-facilitated by Rev. Cecilia Kingman, Minister, Edmonds UU Church, WA and Rev. Jeanne Pupke, Minister, First UU Church in Richmond, VA.
