Take Action
With the economic crisis deepening in the U.S. and across the globe, there will be strong pressure for the new president and Congress to enact substantive legislation pertaining to the economy. We can either pursue the same course or transition to a green economy.
A green economy will take us from fossil fuels that are non-renewable and generate carbon gases to bio-renewables such as solar, wind and water. But more than that, a green economy can transition us from an economic structure in which energy resources are controlled by a few to a structure where resources are shared by many. A green economy has the potential to lift people out of poverty.
We must not let this opportunity pass.
Prepare for the coming year:
- Read Van Jones' book, The Green Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest Problems.
- Write President-elect Obama and urging him to support a green collar economy.
