The First Parish in Cambridge, Massachusetts, voted in April of 2008 to call Rev. Fred Small as their senior minister. Rev. Small began serving First Parish in August of 2008. The first worship service that he led as senior minister took place on September 7, 2008.
The materials below were developed and distributed by First Parish to raise awareness of Rev. Small’s new ministry.
Press Release (Word) (PDF)
The press release was circulated to local media around September 1, 2008. The headline “Cambridge Folksinger Returns as Minister” emphasized Small’s biography and his previous connection to Cambridge. The release included important details about Rev. Small’s life journey, quotations from Small and from the chair of the congregation’s governing board, and background information about First Parish. The release also highlighted the homecoming worship service on September 7, 2008, and Rev. Small’s installation on September 28, 2008.
