Adding login capability to UUA WordPress Themed website
I am in the process of figuring out how best to add login/logout, register capabilities to my web site.I note that, as you\'ve said elsewhere in this forum, the demo web site has no login capability at all.I didn\'t want to hide the login in the footer; rather, I wanted it right at the top, so I added a custom link to the utilities menu at the very top of the header (see http://www.logos.uucm.org/). However, while it works (it just sends the user to the http://www.logos.uucm.org/wp-login.php login page), the first problem is that, once the user is logged in, the Login entry in the menu remains. It should either disappear, or morph into a Logout entry.I\'d like to use a Custom Meta Widget, because I want our members to be able to request membership by registering, but I don\'t know of any way of adding a Custom Meta Widget to a menu. Since I\'d like the login/out/register to be available from any page -- especially the home page, there doesn\'t seem to be a convenient widget area to add it to, except for one of the Footer Widget areas (where no one wil find it easily). So, I tried adding it to Footer 1, below the text for our address and contact information. Unfortunately, instead of inserting itself physically below that, it gets placed horizontally to the right, and pushes the Footer 2 and Footer 3 contents to the right (I\'ve left it in place, so you can see the problem). How do I do what I want to do?

Four years ago, I replied:
https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/wordpress-login-plugins/ talks about a number of plugins that can do fancier things with logging in that WordPress does by itself.
A caveat: The more obvious you make the login link, the more likely your site will be attacked by bots trying to log in. So be sure to keep your site updated, and consider plugins that add layers of security.
P.S. It looks like you ended up putting it in the header menu so it appears in the upper right corner of the page. Looks good there.
