Opportunities for Connection ~ March 2017
Featured Resource: Video Resources
There are many, many videos out there and many places you can find video resources. Here are some tips for where you might find what you are looking for.
The Central East Region and the UUA both have YouTube pages. On the Central East Region's channel you can find recordings of past workshop and webinars as well as videos we've created specifically for our congregations. The UUA uses their channel for outreach videos and livestreaming board meetings. The UUA uses smallscreen to post recordings of webinars and workshops, such as from past General Assemblies.
Older videos from Central East events can currently be found at our On Demand Center, however these will be migrated to the UUA website, where we are currently working on a new section of resources of webinars and workshops for congregational leaders. Keep tuned, as that is coming soon!
Other YouTube Channels you may be interested in: Church of the Larger Fellowship, which includes recordings of the VUU, and UU Leadership Institute. Many congregations have YouTube Channel and have created great videos that may give you inspiration as well. If you have a great YouTube Channel or video resource, please let us know.
CER Hosting UUA Presidential Candidate Forum April 1 (No Joke!)
The Central East Region will be hosting the three candidates for UUA president at a forum on April 1 at the Cedar Lane UU Church in Bethesda, MD. This event will be livestreamed throughout the region. We have a webpage with a map and descriptions of the events currently planned. The page will be updated as we learn of events until the week before the Forum.
You can submit questions for the candidates to consider through March 15th by completing this form.
If your congregation or cluster would like to host a watching party, please get in touch with your primary contact to help us get you on our master schedule.

Better Together Blog: Fall Interview Report: What did it find?
The Central East Region has an Advisory Council of lay and ordained volunteers who work with the Director of Congregational Life, Rev. Scott Tayler, to both assess the needs of our congregations and to track the effectiveness of our regional staff in meeting those needs. The Advisory Council completes targeted, in-depth interviews each fall, and does a broad survey of congregations each spring. This is what they found in their Fall 2016 interviews.

News from the UUA
In the wake of this fall's election, our communities need Unitarian Universalist values more than ever. So many congregations have seen new visitors these past few weeks, and UUA.org website traffic is up too! The UUA is committed to helping you "show the love" through outreach, partnership and welcoming in your congregation. Join us in a Show the Love response to answer the call to justice, compassion, resistance and healing in our communities. Add your congregations' vigils, demonstrations, projects, and events to the Show the Love map. Together, we see how strong and wide our love can be. Check out the Show the Love resource page for regular updates to help you plan your congregation's response. We'll include all the different posts, projects, videos and stories that UUA offices and partners are providing post-election.
In these times UU community is needed more than ever. Please reach out to emerging adults in the 18-24 age range and/or their parents and encourage them to check out the Meaning Makers program - a year of virtual small groups and mentorship bookended by in person retreats. This program keeps emerging adults connected to Unitarian Universalism and helps them reflect and build small group ministry skills. We’re accepting rolling applications until the program fills up.
