UUFH and NAACP Common Read: The Third Reconstruction
Three facilitators from UUFH and NAACP organized a 2 hour book discussion which used the discussion guide as a basis and adapted it to our situation. We shared personal experiences, saw the 3 video clips, discussed the impact of race in our lives and the desire to work together to bring change. In attendance was our Minister and DRE and the Pastor of the local Bethel AME Church/ President of NAACP local branch. We all agreed that we wanted to continue to share with each other and to work together locally. We especially wanted to join our youth of the various congregations in interfaith and multicultural activities in the different communities. This was a first step in our work toward a fusion coalition.
