Luminary Leaders connects youth with their faith and each other

Luminary Leaders is a network of Unitarian Universalist youth from across the Association who want to take on leadership within their faith community. Those who join the Luminary Leaders program are recruited to serve on focus groups, committees, planning teams, task forces and more. They are asked to provide feedback on programs, initiatives, and events. They are the first notified when new application processes are open for service on a variety of teams and committees.

So Many Opportunities! The following is a sample of opportunities we expect to be available to those in the Luminary Leaders program for the coming year:
  • Social Media Internships here at Blue Boat
  • Opportunities to participate in GA Worship and Program planning
  • Various focus groups
  • Luminary Leaders Meet-Up at General Assembly
  • Scholarship assistance (up to $500) to attend a UU event for ONE new Luminary Leader (join by 10/31/2013).

Luminary Leaders may also be directly recruited for committee service.

Those who join the Luminary Leaders program having already demonstrated leadership and service within Unitarian Universalism also earn recognition and are presented with a certificate, letter and lapel pin. Registration is available online and may be submitted at any time. Did you say a $500 scholarship? Any youth who joins Luminary Leaders before October 31, 2013, will be entered into a drawing for a scholarship to attend the UU event of their choice (including GA). The scholarship award covers registration and documented travel expenses up to $500. The winner will be selected at random from all completed applications received by the deadline. I just finished high school. Am I ineligible? To honor the service that our recently bridged young adults offered during their time as youth, we do accept applications from those who have recently bridged (up to one year post-high school). You are eligible for recognition and are kept on the Luminary Leaders roster as alumni. When there are young adult opportunities that match your skills and experience, we will let you know. I have more questions. Visit www.uua.org/luminary to learn more about the program, see our list of recently recognized youth, join the program, or browse our FAQ. If you still have questions, feel free to contact Jeremie Bateman, Leadership Development Associate or leave your comment here.
