The Annual Program Fund Network

The APF Office

The Annual Program Fund (APF) Director and APF Assistant provide professional staff services to the members of the APF Committee.  The Director is also aware of issues and programs in other staff groups of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and in other districts.  Keep in touch with the APF Office, and don't hesitate to ask for advice and assistance.

The District APF Network

No single individual can be expected to carry the responsibility for the district's APF performance alone. Your job will be easier and more enjoyable if you develop a committee and other partners for the APF effort. Involving the district leadership will benefit APF and, through an increased District Grant, will benefit the district as well. Important district contacts are:

  • The President, Treasurer and Finance Chair
  • District Staff
  • Administrator and Bookkeeper
  • Newsletter Editor
  • UUA Trustee
  • Cluster group leaders

The District Board, Staff and Trustee

There are many variations in the formal relationship between the APF District Chair and the District Board, from full Board membership to minimal contact.  Most districts have some provision for working with the Chair.  Regardless of the formal arrangement, it is advantageous to keep in close touch with district leadership, including attending one or two district and/or cluster meetings each year.  The District Staff are in contact with congregations and are a good resource for you.  The district Trustee can also be helpful.

Establishing a relationship with a District Trustee can also be helpful.  Introduce yourself to your District's Trustee and make a point of spending time with him/her at District events and General Assembly.  Trustees are in touch with their congregations and can be a great source of information on what's happening.  They can also be of great help in encouraging Fair Share Giving.  Also, share information with the Trustee such as APF Committee goals, initiatives and strategies, information about congregations that is not confidential, etc.  Make yourself familiar with the issues the UUA Board is dealing with.  Board minutes and informal notes from Board meetings are posted on the UUA website.
