If UUs are the ONENESS CHURCH, what on earth are we doing?
Answers to questions, what are Unitarian Universalists doing? What can we be doing?
Dr Richard Boeke is Moderator of Friends of the ICUU, Vice President of the World Congress of Faiths. He served for 21 years as minister the of UU Church of Berkeley, CA. In 2005 he recieved the Cornish Award of the UU Partner Church Council. For spring 2008, he is Minister-in-Residence at Meadville Lombard. For the past decade, he and his wife, the Rev. Johanna Boeke, have been serving Unitarian Churches in England.
In his lecture Richard Boeke says, "when the Berlin Wall came down in 1990, busloads of Unitarians led by Natalie Gulbrandsen traveled from the Hamburg IARF Congress to the Czech Republic and Transylvania. Partnerships were created between churches in North America and churches in Eastern Europe: direct church-to-church aid and friendship. Church after church in North America found that "we gained more than we gave."
