Solidarity

The Solidarity Center works to build social movements by helping emerging leaders with campaign strategies, organizing and policy advocacy.

It achieves this by providing a structured and supportive learning environment for promising organizers, supporting incubator organizations, and offering workshops and training.

Some of the programs being supported include:

  • Support for salt workers organizing efforts in Gujarat.
  • Support for an emerging leadership organization working with Hindu and Muslim women and youth from the neighborhoods of Ahmedabad that were most involved in and affected by the 2002 communal violence.
  • Support for labor rights legislation for unorganized workers (construction, street vendors, home based piece workers, domestics, etc.).
  • Support for the National Sewerage Workers’ campaign.
