The UUA Margaret Fuller Bicentennial Committee
Mission Statement
We are planning a celebration of the 200th anniversary of Margaret Fuller’s birth for General Assembly (GA) 2010 in St. Paul, Minnesota. While this project is focused on events at GA 2010, we anticipate it will give rise to long-lasting resources which will help keep Fuller’s legacy alive, such as a children’s book, copies of lectures given, a musical anthem or hymn for GA and beyond.
Projects and Resources
The Margaret Fuller Bicentennial Committee's work includes the following projects:
- The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Margaret Fuller Bicentennial Committee Hymn Competition.
- Events (PDF) honoring Margaret Fuller at General Assembly 2010.
- A children's book, titled "Balancing Act: The Life and Times of Women’s Rights Activist Margaret Fuller," for use in religious education programs.
Committee member Rev. Dr. Barry Andrews has edited "The Spirit Leads: Margaret Fuller in Her Own Words," to be published by Skinner House Books in June 2010.
In her March 2010 letter (PDF), committee chair Rev. Jenny Rankin describes Fuller's historic significance and provides an overview of the resources available to congregations.
