Charge to the Committee

To monitor and advise on UUA staff structure and personnel policies. Review candidates for Leadership Council positions, advise the President and report to the BOT on same.

Duties:

  • Review and recommend UUA personnel policies (hiring, firing, benefits, pension, sabbatical, affirmative action, etc.). Report to Board.
  • Review situations in which a request for exception to policies is made or the application of policy is not clear.
  • Review and offer recommendations on major structural changes to the UUA staff (reorganizing departments, adding or eliminating senior positions, etc.)
  • Review candidates for Leadership Council position; advise President and inform Board about the committee's judgment.
  • Participate in, or arrange for another committee member to participate in, final interviews of Leadership Council candidates and report back to full committee.* (Highly desirable but not required.)
  • Provide recommendations to the President on senior hires.
  • Provide recommendations to the Board on broad personnel policies.
