Karen Eng
Personal History
Karen was born in Oakland and her family has been in California since 1923. Her daughter was born in Boston in 1987; Karen is a single parent by choice. She enoys rooting for the California Golden Bears, scrabble, origami and spending as much time as she can gardening, camping and playing djembe.

- Assistant to the Director: The Pathfinder Fund, Chestnut Hill, MA (1982-90)
- Program Manager, Asia: supported offices and family planning programs in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Thailand and provided direct project support in Egypt, Yemen, Vietnam and the Philippine Islands

- Financial Planner: I work with individuals to plan for their futures and manage their assets. In addition to providing investment advice my approach extends to working in collaboration with attorneys, accountants, fiduciaries and care givers to provide coordinated, comprehensive service. My particular expertise is in retirement planning and financial planning for the elderly.

- I am an active lay leader in Unitarian Universalism.

- DRUUMM and APIC (continental communities for People of Color within Unitarian Universalism): founding member of the Asian /Pacific Islander Caucus (APIC), past treasurer for Diverse and Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM)
- Community member of Finance Committee of the Board of Starr King School for the Ministry (recently resigned)
- Member of Moderator’s Task Force on Cultural Appropriation
- I sing in two ensembles at church.
- I am on the board of Legal Assistance for Seniors, a community agency working to ensure the independence and dignity of seniors by protecting their legal rights.
