Conference call
7:30 – 8:45 pm
Present: Helen Bishop, Gene Burr, Eva Marx, Laurie Thomas, Wendy von Zirpolo
Absent: Vincent Licenziato
Check-in
Wendy and Laurie met with the Ministerial Fellowship Committee in Berkeley in early December. Both did very well. Gene is home full-time after many years on the road. Eva is finding her tenure as liaison with the Committee “interesting.”
Consultation in Philadelphia
The Committee is scheduled to do a consult in January with a congregation in Philadelphia that is not accessible to people using scooters and wheelchairs, so Laurie and Helen will not be able to visit the congregation, and the consult must be set up at a nearby hotel. This presents problems for leaders of the congregation, who must travel to the hotel to meet with members of the Committee. Installing temporary ramps will not provide access to a meeting room and a bathroom, and would cost a considerable amount of money.
Members of the Committee decided to meet with the board, religious education committee, worship committee, and accessibilities committee at the hotel. They decided to offer a worship service on Sunday morning at the hotel, to which all members of the congregation are invited. The able-bodied members of the Committee will then go to the congregation to conduct worship.
Respectfully submitted,
Helen Bishop, Acting Recorder
