Campaign Specialist

Location: Boston, Massachusetts (onsite)

FLSA: Exempt

Grade: 9, full-time

Basic Purpose: Supports the Campaign Manager by acting as project manager for fundraising plans and other special projects, maintaining and researching donor prospect data, and maintaining a high level of accountability to campaign donors.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Acts as project manager for mini-campaigns (including fundraising for regional marketing, working with volunteer affinity groups, and more) within the “Now is the Time” campaign. With Campaign Manager, creates comprehensive plans for researching and cultivating donors for specific projects, maintains ongoing list of donor prospects by geographic and interest areas, maintains timeline and budget information, and coordinates dunning process. Supervises actions of the team assigned to these special projects.
     
  2. Manages scholarship and other special funds for the campaign (totals approximately $5.5 million annually and growing), including reviewing and recommending improvements to the scholarship application process to protect our donors’ interests, maintaining personal relationships with scholarship donors, and acts as a liaison between the Stewardship and Development and the Ministry and Professional Leadership staff groups.
     
  3. Collaborates in the creation and management of policies and procedures for the use of prospect research tools and donor cultivation materials, including governing documents for gifts, project proposals, etc.
     
  4. Collaborates in the creation and management of policies and procedures that ensure a high level of accountability to donors. Collaborates with the Campaign Manager and the Stewardship and Development Director of Operations and Budget to create accurate and timely reports for donors, updating them on the success of special projects and the overall campaign.
     
  5. Manages online content for the campaign.
     
  6. Creates, plans, and executes special projects, as assigned.
     
  7. Works with the gift processing team to ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgement of donations, as needed.
     
  8. Participates in the planning and execution of various Stewardship and Development events, as assigned, including travel.
     
  9. Maintains portfolio as a gift officer, as assigned.
     
  10. Performs additional duties as requested by supervisor or, in his/her absence, by the Stewardship and Development Director of Operations and Budget, the Vice President or Associate Vice President of Stewardship and Development, the Executive Vice President, or the President.

This is an exempt Grade 9 position (entry $34,200; midpoint $42,300). The successful applicant will be a highly-organized team player with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills, and will be able to demonstrate initiative, an extreme attention to detail, and strong organizational and time-management skills. The ability to interact with a variety of individuals and audiences graciously, and managing sensitive, confidential information is a must. A background or prior experience in the areas of event planning or project management is preferred. Our ideal candidate will also be highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access (or other database), and Outlook. Raiser’s Edge experience is a plus.
