Web Project Implementation Plan

        12/17/06 UUA Web Standards and Style Guide submitted to Communication Director for final review.

        12/10/06 Work with Matrix re-initiatiated to make style sheets compatible with Internet Explorer 7.

        12/06 Visitor Section content completed and posted.

        10/24/06 First draft of Web Standards and Style Guide in production.

        10/23/06 Stewardship & Development representative begins planning next steps for that group's content migration. Congregational Services authors also begin to plan next steps for content migration.

        10/11/2006  Memos are sent to staff groups requesting identification of CMS Authors in each area.

        7/2006 First CMS authors are trained to migrate Worship Web content.

        4/06-7/06 Matrix finalizes approved design and develops back-end code; CrownPeak begins work on customizing CMS templates to match the Matrix designs.  OEC's Website Manager is named as Project Manager for the CMS implementation program.

        3/31/2006 Matrix International submits final designs.

        5//2005 Web Redesign Committee presents progress and decisions to UUA staff and collects feedback.

        4/2005 Web Redesign Committee works with Matrix to establish look and feel of home page and menu navigation.

        3/2005 Kickoff meeting with Matrix Group International.

        2/2005 Matrix Group International selected as the website redesign firm; CrownPeak selected for Content Management System.

        1/2005 New ITS Director is hired. Web Redesign Committee composed of UUA staff members is formed.  Committee is charged with developing organizational vision and the means for offering insight, and providing feedback, into the redesign of UUA.org.

        10/2004 Project restarted with consulting company assisting OEC staff in re-issuing RFP for suitable vendors and identifying a pool of finalists.

        8/2004 ITS Director leaves UUA; project put on hold until a replacement was found.

        6/2004 - Finalist company fails to meet all articulated needs of UUA and determination is made that further work needs to be done to identify a suitable design/CMS vendor.

        6/2003-4/2004  The UUA ITS Director issues Request for Proposal for web design firms and Content Management System vendors.  Nearly twelve companies make presentations. 

        6/2003 Web Redesign Task Group's evaluation of current web site recommends a redesigned UUA.org with navigation based on audience and interests.  Purchase and implementation of a Content Management System (CMS) is also recommended so that content can be more easily managed and so that staff members can manage text independently.

        11/2002 Web Redesign Task Group outlines a project plan which includes developing a mission statement and guiding principles; identification of web users, web user needs, information architecture; study of graphic arts, programming, and publishing.

        4/2002 Web Redesign Task Group is formed to evaluate UUA.org, led by members of the UUA's Office of Electronic Communication and ITS Director.  Participants are Unitarian Universalists but not employees of the UUA.
